2025 LP Gas Rising Leader: Brian Green

Brian Green
Company: Green’s Blue Flame Gas / Houston
Job title: President
Years in propane industry: 10
How did you get your start in the propane industry?
My career in the propane industry started 10 years ago after a career as an engineer in oil and gas. At the time, I was frustrated with not being able to see the big picture of the business I was in, and my dad and I had a conversation about me joining the family business.
How do you help lead your company in your current role?
I play a key role in driving the company’s growth strategy and overseeing the implementation of initiatives to achieve our growth objectives. Additionally, I am responsible for managing the recruitment process to ensure that we attract and retain top talent to support our business goals.
What change would you like to see to the propane industry to ensure its success?
I believe that embracing and implementing advanced technologies within the propane marketing sector is crucial for staying competitive in the energy market. In an industry where reliability is key, leveraging innovative solutions can enhance the dependability of our services and ultimately benefit the entire sector.

What does your generation offer to the propane industry that previous generations did not?
My generation has played a significant role in enhancing the efficiency of the propane industry through the adoption of new technologies and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This commitment to innovation has led to improved processes and increased productivity within the industry.
What specific technologies are you using (or plan to use) to support business operations?
In 2018, we implemented the use of tank monitors on a large scale, and all of our autofill customers are now equipped with these devices. The integration of tank monitors with our routing software has proven to be immensely advantageous for both our business and our customers, particularly in light of the frequent severe weather events in Texas resulting in power disruptions.
What propane industry associations are you involved with at the state and/or national level?
I am involved in the TPGA (Texas Propane Gas Association) and NPGA (National Propane Gas Association). I also have been a part of NPGA Benchmarking since 2019.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself, your company and/or the propane industry?
I feel like there is a lot of opportunity in the propane industry. We have such a unique source of energy that is very reliable, especially with the new technology available.
